Sunday Scoop 9-11-14

Hello!

Sunday means it is time to link up with the Teaching Trio for the Sunday Scoop!

Positives... We finally decided on a Christmas Production to do as a phase. 180 children will be involved in a Christmas around the World performance - fingers crossed it will be easy to stage and perform! My class have Africa! Another positive is that I think I have figured out a way to fit more 1:1 readers into my timetable - I'm looking forward to hearing how well they are doing with their reading!

Not so Positives... I'm struggling to keep on top of my marking. I have a whole lead at home today and am determined not to go to bed until it is done! Why is it so easy to fall behind?!

Don't forget to link up your Sunday Scoop with the Teaching Trio!

  1. I started my Christmas shopping last week! I can't believe the holidays will be here before we know it! Good luck finishing all your grading. You can do it!

  2. Hi Pixie Anne! We meet again. Are you in charge of teaching music to your students? Mine would be in big trouble if I had to teach them anything musical! I actually bought two Christmas gifts yesterday and six today (online at Vera Bradley 70% off, awesomeness!) Have a wonderful, blessed Sunday!

    1. Yes, I teach them everything! I really like teaching singing actually (even though my voice isn't great - I enjoy it!). Music with instruments is a whole other matter...!

  3. I love Christmas shopping. I want to start, too. I just created a photo book. I've purchased a few books from Scholastic book clubs. It's a start! I'm a new follower! Have a great week.

  4. Ah that list seems so familiar...:) I too have a few parent's evenings this week and find they always leave me so exhausted! Good luck on getting all your marking done. x

  5. I am curious as to what parent's evening is. Is it similar to conferences? I have found a weird way to make sure I don't fall behind on my correcting (and it is not fail proof yet). I pick a day a week to correct all of a specific subject. For example, Mondays I correct everything for science. So I have 5 separate subject tubs where I store their finished work until correction day. Then, I just grab that tub correct it all and pass it back out the next day. Each evening (or during my prep) I make sure to get that tub corrected. Some evenings it takes a bit longer, but my weekends are free of correcting! If this doesn't make sense... let me know and I can snap a picture or two to explain it more. :) Have a fabulous week and thank you for linking up with us today!

    1. That's a good idea. It would work for me for most subjects but literacy and maths are taught everyday and ideally need to be marked before the kids get their books back to work in them the next time! Yes, I think it's just the same as conferences from what I understand!

  7. In my current school (prep school in Kenya), we have parent-visiting weekends... So I'm seeing parents for formal consultations on Saturday morning (which are similar to parents' evening) + informal consultations in the afternoon and on Sunday morning. So it's going to be busy and I should really get on with my marking instead of sending this post!!!
