Pirate Hats for Wordless Wednesday

Hello!

I'm so happy I have found the time to link up with  Miss DeCarbo at Sugar and Spice for Wordless Wednesday today!

As we're doing some work on writing and following instructions, I found what I thought was the simplest little pirate hat to make today... How wrong I was!

So many tears and maybe three successful hats out of 20!

My question for you is: what little craft activity have you tried that has gone horribly wrong?!

(After I helped a lot, there were smiling pirates in the room!)

Don't forget to link up for Wordless Wednesday yourself!

  1. You are not alone in this type of experience. I'm struggling with my middle grades students' ability or lack of when it comes to following directions. I think I'm beginning to see a trend that began these past few years. I also have noticed that many of my older students when confronted with something challenging, as in pieces/parts to a craftivity, often give up, wanting me to step in and complete it. Sigh!

  2. They aren't usually crafty experiences in my high school classes, but foldables or writing assignments that come out all wrong. I often follow directions (especially when my projector isn't working) with: What doesn't make sense about the directions? That way I give them the assumption that something was confusing.

  3. My first experience making our First Thanksgiving re-tell bracelets. There were beads all over...lol. However, over the years I have gotten smarter and now have it down to a science. Organization was the key.
